A Linking Park

A Linking Park could be considered an exhibition without works. To see it you must find yourself standing before the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and you must use a smartphone to scan the twenty QR codes positioned on the building. The QR are minimal codes with content rendered decipherable only through the use of a cellphone that is connected to the internet. Therefore, smartphones are the space that brings A Linking Park to fruition, while the façade of the Fondazione building is the interface and the support for the network of codes. A Linking Park takes advantage of the logic of...

Stanzas

Stanzas is a light and sound installation, produced in 2011 for the 54th Venice Biennale ILLUMInazioni, curated by Bice Curiger. It creates an immersive environment, in which the lighting technique blends with a complex sound narrative. Several characters find themselves on the set of a possible film, discussing the nature of the film image, the poetic vision, and the power of rituals, even as scenes of the film itself are shot. Noises and voices from the set blend with noise, music and dialogs, opening a space between the ritual time of the shooting and the (mental and real)...

Plus Ultra

Plus Ultra draws its title from the motto of Charles V, Emperor of the Sacred Roman Empire and King of Spain, which translates as going beyond, overcoming limits, as opposed to its negative form in the ancient Latin saying “nec plus ultra”. Goshka Macuga designed this work for the spaces of the Corderie at the Venice Arsenal. The huge tapestry, made by Flemish weavers, is wrapped around a couple of columns, thus reproducing the heraldry symbol on a monumental scale. The installation creates a truly transitional space, a real gateway which both separates and unites discrete worlds....
