Curated by Ludovico Pratesi and Shara Wasserman

Continuing the survey on the world of collecting that started in 2004 with the exhibition Roma Colleziona. Arte Contemporanea Italiana da Collezioni Pubbliche e Private, the American Academy of Rome will host, from October 28 to December 7, American Images. Opere dalla Collezione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo.
The review exhibition, curated by Ludovico Pratesi and Shara Wasserman, brings together a selection of 25 photo works from the Collection of Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo. The exhibition will feature some of the American artists who have contributed to write the history of contemporary art since the 1980s: Matthew Barney, Julie Becker, Larry Clark, Anna Gaskell, Dan Graham, Nan Goldin, Larry Johnson, Barbara Kruger, Louise Lawler, Sherrie Levine, Sharon Lockhart, Kelly Nipper, Catherine Opie, Richard Prince, Charles Ray, Collier Schorr, Cindy Sherman.
The contemporary art collection of Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo is one of the most important in Italy, for the quantity and quality of the works, and effectively provides an exhaustive overview on the international art scene of the last two decades. Curated by Francesco Bonami (Manilow Senior Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago and Director of the Visual Arts Biennale of Venice in 2003), the collection includes over a thousand works. A sample selection is now presented in Rome for the first time.
The exhibited photo works provide an insight into the evolution of the most recent American art as seen through the choices of one of Italy's most perceptive collectors.
