Steve McQueen

Gravesend

1 January 2007 – 31 December 2007

The Foundation joins the production of the work by Steve McQueen Gravesend presented at the 52nd Venice Biennale, curated by Robert Storr. Gravesend is a docufilm addressing a dramatic, current issue: the exploitation of workers in Congo in the mining of Coltan, a metallic ore used in the production of electronic components – a precious material, which has been referred to as the new “blood diamond” on account of its connections with the war industry in Africa.
