On the occasion of the 13th year of collaboration with ENSBA Lyon \u2013 \u00c9cole nationale sup\u00e9rieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo hosts Just like heaven<\/em>, the first solo exhibition in Italy of Alexis Puget. Alexis Puget is an artist participating in the 2026 edition of the Post-dipl\u00f4me, the French school\u2019s postgraduate research programme in the arts, coordinated by curator Julie Portier and open each year to five artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alexis Puget (Paris, 2000) belongs to a generation of artists who have grown up in symbiosis with the internet and social media, during the decades in which these tools have spread on a large scale and transformed the way we experience the world. His works engage with the constant accumulation of memories, documents, images and, more generally, cultural products that remain accessible on the web and which, selected by algorithms, continue to feature in our feeds. For the artist, this coexistence of different temporalities within a single scroll generates a sense of nostalgia, a feeling he regards as characteristic of the digital experience. In his work, nostalgia does not manifest as a desire to return to a historical period or a moment lived, but rather as an emotional state of constant engagement with time, in which every era is accessible and every fragment of the past \u2013 both individual and collective \u2013 is ever-present, retrievable and capable of being recombined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In keeping with this overlapping of styles, eras and media, the exhibition Just like heaven<\/em> continues the research the artist has pursued over the past year. His practice combines sculpture and audiovisual material with objects found on second-hand websites, in thrift stores or in the family archive. He is often drawn to objects that embody layered histories, such as pieces of furniture that mimic the style of a bygone era, or seats from a disused cinema repurposed as design objects, which the artist then modifies once more to transform them into sculptures. Puget displaces and recombines these elements with an approach reminiscent of the technique of sampling<\/em>, in which fragments of existing tracks are extracted and integrated to produce new music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside one of the rooms of Palazzo Re Rebaudengo in Guarene, the works form an installation which, taken as a whole, functions as a narrative landscape: the set of a film without characters, where certain clues suggest the possibility of a story, which nevertheless remains open-ended and undefined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
